‘Keep calm and follow Iqbal’

“The vision of Allama Muhammad Iqbal was global, encompassing every colour and race of humanity. If we follow his teachings in letter and spirit, we will not face problems,” National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq said in his message on the occasion of 137th birth anniversary of Allama Muhammad Iqbal.

The speaker said that prior to March 23, 1940, when Pakistan resolution was formally passed, Iqbal’s philosophical and poetic writings were instrumental in formation and melding of public opinion. The speaker said that the dream of Iqbal was a great blessing for the Muslims of the sub-continent, and added that his poetic message rouse and strengthen the spirit and will of the Muslims to get independent and separate homeland for them where they could live according to their creed, culture and traditions.

The speaker said that Iqbal visualised the suffering of Muslims and masses that led to their melt down and also proposed recipe for their revival and regaining the lost glory of the Muslims. The speaker said that the Muslims in general and Pakistan in particular were confronting tremendous problems and challenges that could be overcome through the proposed remedies by Iqbal.

The speaker said that Iqbal’s vision of Islamic society was universal that transcended beyond limits of territorial boundaries and barriers of nationhood. He said that extremism and bigotry had no place in the Iqbal’s scheme of things and he wanted Muslims to be moderate, peaceful and enlightened so that their deeds convince non Muslim to develop penchant for Islam.
