Two infants died in Tharparkar on Friday, pushing the death toll in the famine-hit region to 49 in the past 38 days.
A 12-day-old baby breathed his last in Chachro while another newborn baby died at Civil Hospital, Mithi. Their death mounted the overall death tally to 49 within 38 days in Tharparkar.
About 35 children are still being given medical care at Mithi Civil Hospital and three of these children are in critical state.
There are at least seven underfed children at Taluka Diplo hospital, 15 in Chachro hospital, nine in Nangar Parkar hospital whereas at least 11 children are receiving healthcare in Islampura hospital.
Distrcit Tharparkar administration has confirmed the deaths of 275 children in the past 11 months due to the famine. Despite numerous directives from Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah, the health department officials have not made non-functional dispensaries functional.
