Latest action by security forces in Khyber Agency’s Bara Tehsil on Friday killed at least five suspected militants and left more than 10 injured.
According to reports, militant hideouts in Sipah and Akakhel areas were targeted by artillery and mortar strickes by the security troops which are considered to be a stronghold of banned militant outfit Lashkar-e-Islam.
Khyber is one of the seven semi-autonomous tribal areas of Pakistan bordering Afghanistan where militancy is rife. Pakistan Army in late October launched an operation ‘Khyber-One’ in the area to clean out foreign and local militants.
