Five dead as rival groups clash at graveyard

At least five people were killed and four others injured in a clash between two groups at a graveyard on Tuesday.

The police said that the groups clashed over an old enmity when the residents of Badhan area, Tehsil Muridke of Sheikhupura, were at a local graveyard, offering fateha and mending graves of their beloved on Muharram 10. The graveyard echoed with abusive language and later gunshots.

Advocate Rana Saleh, his son Advocate Rana Shoaib, his nephew named Awais and two members of the opposing group identified as Adil and Umer died on spot while four others sustained serious injuries.

The injured were taken to nearby hospital and later referred to Mayo Hospital while the police have registered a case against men from both groups carrying weapons and arrested a few people.
