*Government officials say nation standing behind brave army, lauds citizens’ courage

The entire nation is united and supporting Pakistan Army in the war against terrorism and every sacrifice will be made for this purpose, said Punjab government spokesman Zaeem Qadri while briefing the journalists about Wagah incident on Monday. He was accompanied by Home Minister Colonel Shuja Khanzada and Advisor Health Khawaja Salman Rafique.

He said that the government has constituted a joint investigation team for inquiry of the incident which will submit its report within two to three days. He said enthusiasm of the people during flag lowering ceremony at Wagah border is a proof of the fact that the nation has rejected the terrorist act and is supporting the army in the war for survival of the country. He said that especially during Ashura, the nation is fully united for the protection of the country.

Khanzada said that after receiving secret information regarding threat of terrorism on October 31, joint security measures were taken, after which, 24 more police officials were deputed on joint check post besides increasing joint checking and patrolling. The team also included women officials. On the instructions of Punjab chief minister, he said, a joint investigation team has been constituted in order to bringing the facts to light. He said that team comprise officers of police, ISI, Rangers, Special Branch and Counter Terrorism department and will submit its report within two to three days.

Salman Rafique informed that best treatment facilities are being provided to 88 critically injured persons in government hospitals. He said that after the incident, the government machinery including provincial ministers had started efforts for providing medical facilities to the affected persons. He said that special arrangements have been made in all the hospitals and all possible cooperation is also being provided to the attendants. He said that the government has also extended cooperation in dispatch of dead bodies. Talking to journalists, the ministers sympathised with the bereaved families over this tragic incident on behalf of the chief minister and the government. They paid tributes to the martyrs and prayed for early recovery of the injured.
