*85 injured still under treatment in city hospitals

More than 85 people are still under treatment in various hospitals of Lahore as a consequence of the blast that took place near the Wagah Border on Sunday.

As many as 17 patients are under treatment at Ghurki Hospital, of which nine are in the ICU. Further, 47 patients have been admitted to the Services Hospital, while 12 are at the General Hospital and others have been admitted to the Mayo Hospital,

Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, while visiting the Lahore General Hospital on Monday, directed the hospital administration to provide the best treatment to the patients.

Shahbaz claimed that the people behind the incident will be brought to justice, adding that the government is committed to eliminate terrorism from the country.

RS 75,000 FOR CRITICALLY WOUNDED, 25,000 FOR MINOR INJURIES:

Separately in a statement issued on Monday, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has called for unity to eliminate the menace of terrorism from the country.

He said that the nation stands by the brave armed forces who are busy in the war against terrorism and writing a history of courage.

He strongly condemned the suicide attack near Wagah Border and said that culprits of this heinous act will be brought to book.

The chief minister has sought a report of the incident from police and the district administration. He has also announced a compensation of five hundred thousand rupees for victims’ families.

According to a government spokesman, 75,000 rupees will be provided to the family of each critically injured person, while 25,000 to the family of each person who received minor injuries in the blast.

The chief minister visited the victims of the blast admitted to General Hospital on Monday. He reviewed arrangements at the hospital and ordered authorities to provide best medical facilities to the injured.

GOVERNOR SAYS BEST FACILITIES BEING PROVIDED TO THE VICTIMS:

Punjab Governor Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar also visited the Services Hospital to inquire about the health of the injured of the suicide attack.

Talking to journalists outside the hospital, he said the government and the armed forces are determined to eliminate terrorism from the country. He said the best possible medical facilities are being provided to the injured.
