Tight security measures adopted for Ashura: Raja Ashfaq

Elaborate security arrangements have been made by the district administration and police to ensure law and order during Ashura, said Punjab Minister for Labour and Manpower Raja Ashfaq Sarwar on Sunday.

He said that the ulema of all schools of thought have been taken on board to seek their close cooperation to maintain sectarian harmony.

Sarwar said that it is our moral, religious and national obligation that we should play our due role in maintaining religious peace and harmony during Muharram and keeping in view the critical situation, the administrations of Rawalpindi and other districts of Rawalpindi Division have chalked out detailed security plans to provide proper security cover during Majalis and processions.

He said every aspect relating to law and order had been kept in mind to evolve security plan. He further said that 200 close circuit cameras had been installed along the route of main Muharram procession while a master control room has also been set up to monitor the situation.

Raja Ashfaq Sarwar said that the members of provincial cabinet, PML-N leaders and workers would remain present along with Muharram procession on Ashura to ensure peace and tranquility.

He said that ulema belonging to all sects would also present during the procession.
