Sindh Minister for Education Nisar Ahmed Khuhuro has said that two-third majority was required in the provincial assembly to affect any bifurcation of the province.

The administrative units were already functioning effectively in the shape of divisions in Sindh province, so there was no need of creation of more administrative units, or bifurcation of the province, the minister said while talking to media persons at the Circuit House on Sunday night.

The minister said like Kalabagh Dam which could not be constructed, the division of Sindh could not be possible and there was no need of bifurcation of the province though a provision has been mentioned in the constitution in this respect.

About the PTI’s sit-in, the minister said that one of the associates had already ended the sit-in by his party. On one hand Imran Khan was defaming the parliament and his party members had resigned from the seats of the National Assembly, while on the other hand, the PTI government continued to hold power in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

Criticising the dual standard of Imran Khan, the minister said he himself travelled in a private aircraft and spent his days in an air-conditioned container, while his party workers present at the sit-in were bearing scorching heat.

Imran Khan was the only politician of the country who welcomed dictator Pervez Musharraf and supported his unconstitutional referendum, Khuhro said.

Despite propagating about local government elections, Imran Khan did not take interest in the conduct of these elections in the KPK province where his party was ruling, the minister said, and regretted Imran’s terming those people as “sheep” who participated in the public meeting of his opponent political parties.

Replying to a question about the appointment of 50 per cent officers of Grade 17 to Grade 21 from DMG Group in the education department, the minister said the protest by the teachers’ association in this direction had no basis. The appointment of DMG officers in the education department would help in improving the management of the department, he added.
