Security has been beefed up in the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad in order to maintain law and order and to secure mourning processions during Muharram.

Directives have been issued to vacate all sensitive points including Madrassa Taleemal Quran from Muharram 9 (Monday) while pillion riding has also been banned. Special police commandos will be deployed on roofs, intersections and roads to ensure secure passage of processions.

Mobile phone services will be suspended on Monday and Tuesday. Use of loudspeakers has been banned while 250 containers will be placed on different points and aerial monitoring would be done through helicopters to avoid any untoward incident.
