PM takes notice of Thar deaths as 2 more die

Two more newborn babies died in the famine-hit Tharparkar on Thursday, pushing the death toll to 38 in the month of October.

The two children died at Mithi and Chachro hospitals. Doctors told reporters that more than 100 people, including 41 children, are still admitted at Mithi Hospital.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif took notice of the drought in Tharparkar and directed the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) to file a report in this regard. The PM also advised the armed forces to supply food and medicines to the drought-affected areas. More than 1,000 people, including children and women, have died in Tharparkar area due to the famine.
