The deaths and miserable living conditions in drought-hit Tharparkar have taken its toll on the citizens as another person died in the district owing to starvation, officials said on Wednesday.
The famine-like situation in Mithi and adjoining villages have claimed scores of lives with no government measures in sight to contain the growing number of deaths.
Currently, 38 people are admitted to a hospital suffering from famine. Relief inspection team on Wednesday visited the Civil Hospital in Mithi and seized hundreds of sacks of staples including bottles of water stocked in the godown.
At least 400 deaths have been reported in Tharparkar in the last eight months. Hospitals in Tharparkar district are crammed with drought-affected people, mostly children. Residents have slammed lack of help from the government.
