Pindi to be sealed from Muharram 6 to 10

Markets to remain closed till 3pm from Muharram 7 to 9

The district administration has decided to seal Rawalpindi city from Muharram 6 to 10. Over 200 containers will be placed in the city during this period as part of security arrangements.

Sources said that the Rawalpindi district administration, police and traffic police have started making foolproof security arrangements in the entire city to avert any untoward incident on Ashura. All the entry points of the city will be sealed while army personnel will also be deployed besides police and Rangers.

In the meanwhile, markets and shops will remain closed in Rawalpindi during Muharram 7 and 9 as per agreement reached between City administration and traders union.

According to details, in order to maintain law and order situation and avoid any unwanted incident Rawalpindi CPO Humayun Bashir Tarrar has held meetings with traders unions and reached an agreement in this regard.

As per agreement all shops and markets would be closed till 3pm on Muharram 7 and 9 while no market or shopping centre will be opened on 10th Muharram.
