Children are ignored

Pakistani media, print or electronic, is successfully providing its readers and viewers with all aspects of news, information and entertainment. The contents are targeted to youth, men, women and old aged people. But unfortunately the children’s programmes are totally neglected especially in electronic media.

Until the recent past there used to be a few programmes for kids like animated series, game shows, musical and infotainment programmes. Children not only enjoyed those programmes but also gained healthy information.

At present there is not a single content presented on television and radio that is totally meant for children. Therefore, children are forced to watch/listen adult contents like music, drama and even political shows. As a result children’s psychology is badly affected. From this content they can only learn how to fight by using abusive language and how to shout on other people.

I suggest that every TV channel should allocate a suitable timeslot for children’s programmes in which children from different schools and of different levels should be invited to participate.

Among the items of the programmes storytelling, quizzes, poetry recitation, short plays, religious segments, and interesting games should be included.
