The Supreme Court (SC) has admitted for regular hearing a petition challenging legal and constitutional status of Islamabad High Court (IHC).

The petition was filed by the petitioner Shahid Orakzai and registrar office had raised objections over it.

Justice Mian Saqib Nisar of SC heard in his chamber an appeal plea filed against registrar office objections and later admitted the petition for regular hearing.

Orakzai pleaded that the formation of IHC under 19th Amendment of the Constitution was illegal and unconstitutional and all the provisions in this connection run counter to the Constitution. IHC cannot be made part of Constitution with these words therefore its formation be declared unconstitutional, he prayed.

The petitioner had filed this petition in 2011 which has been heard after three years.
