Pervaiz Rashid believes nation is united for Kashmir

Federal Minister for Information Pervaiz Rashid said Monday that Pakistani nation is united for the Kashmir cause and Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) government has always taken a principled stand on the issue.

While addressing “27 October Black Day: Indian Invasion & Planned Attempt to Flood Kashmir” at International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) with the collaboration of Department of Politics & IR and Youth Forum for Kashmir, the minister said, “We believe that the issue should be resolved in accordance with the United Nations (UN) resolutions keeping in view the aspirations of the Kashmiris.”

Rashid said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif effectively presented Pakistan’s stance at the recent 69th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) session. He reminded the world community about the promises made with the Kashmiris for resolving the issue under the UN Security Council resolutions.

Speaking on Line of Control (LoC) ceasefire violations, the minister said that such happenings from the Indian side would affect the peace in the region. He urged the nation put aside personal differences and stand united for the solution of disputes.

He vowed that the government would keep raising the Kashmir issue on international forums while he termed its solution as vital for the betterment of region.

Speaking on the occasion, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)’s Information Secretary Shireen Mazari said Kashmir is an international dispute which demands a clear cut policy from the government. She was of the view that sacrifices of the Kashmiris would never be forgotten. She also condemned the violation of human rights in Kashmir.

In his presidential address to the program, IIUI Vice President Academics Dr Muhammad Bashir Khan said Kashmir is a significant dispute and Kahmiris must be given the prerogative of self determination. He vowed that IIUI would keep supporting Kashmiris in the freedom movement.
