Governor Sindh approves resignation of two MQM ministers

Governor Sindh Dr. Ishrat-ul-Ibad Khan on Tuesday accepted the resignations of two ministers from Mutahidda Qaumi Movement (MQM), a private news channel reported.

According to the report, Health Minister Dr. Sagheer Ahmed and Minister for Industry and Commerce Rauf Siddiqui tendered their resignations to the governor.

The governor also signed the Sindh Local Government (Amendment) Bill 2014 after its approval by the Sindh Assembly on Oct 20, giving the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) the authority to carry out delimitation of constituencies in the province.

Earlier, Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah approved the resignations of  two advisors and a a special assistant belonging to the MQM .

MQM, on October 19, announced to part ways with the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) -led coalition government in Sindh in protest of remarks made by PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari against MQM Chief Altaf Hussain and  remarks by  Opposition Leader in National Assembly Syed Khursheed Shah, from PPP, terming the word ‘Muhajir’ (immigrants) ‘an insult.’
