Civilian martyred in Indian shelling in AJK

An elderly man was martyred due to unprovoked shelling by the Indian troops from across the Line of Control (LoC) on Chirikot sector of Havaili district on Tuesday.

The Indian forces started firing on the Chirikot village without any provocation, which continued for some hours, said Muzaffarabad Additional Home Secretary and AJK government Central Control Room In-Charge Abdul Hamid Mughal.

Mughal said Muhammad Din, 80, son of Sultan Muhammad was present at his house when he became the victim of Indian shelling.

The residents of other villages in Red Kathar area of Chirikot sector also remained confined to their houses for several hours due to Indian firing, which continued intermittently. The people were reportedly in high spirits and there was no report of shifting of population from the firing-hit areas.
