The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Monday issued notice to Rangers’ representative to place on record a report regarding action taken against Rangers’ delinquent officers for harassing a businessman.
A division bench headed by Justice Ahmed Ali M Shaikh was hearing a petition filed by Ahmed Shah who moved the court levelling serious harassment allegations against Rangers officials Col Mazhar, DSR Yaqoob, DSR Mazhar and DSR Javed.
The petitioner said he was doing business of sale and purchase of used vehicles with his two sons, Bilal Shah and Qalandar Shah, but he had wound up the business in May this year.
He alleged that Rangers officials summoned him frequently to the Rangers’ Wing-53 Headquarters in Baldia and subjected him to harassment. He said they coerced him into handing over two of his cars to another dealer, Kamil alia Kami. He added that they also snatched Rs 1.2 million in cash from him under duress.
The petitioner said that Rangers officials misused their powers which was a violation of the constitutional provisions. He told the judges that he approached the BaldiaTown police station to register an FIR against Rangers’ officials but they refused to entertain his plea.
Hence, he pleaded to the court to direct the Rangers director general to take action against his subordinates for abusing their powers. Hearing of case was adjourned till October 30.
