3 gang-war criminals killed in encounter; 34 arrested

At least three Lyari gang-war criminals were killed in two separate encounters with Rangers in different areas moments after midnight of Friday.

The first encounter occurred in Chakiwara area where two criminals were shot dead by the paratroopers.

The criminals named Sameer and Balaach were wanted in cases including bhatta mafia activities, murder of 20 people including Rangers troops and kidnappings for ransom.

The second encounter took place in Tughlaq Lane area where a gang-war operative identified as Haneef alias Kela was killed. According to the Rangers spokesman, the criminal was involved in the killing of three persons and bhatta mafia activities.

Meanwhile, as many as 34 suspects were arrested from different areas of the city on Saturday in ongoing Karachi operation.

According to Rangers’ spokesman, the raids were conducted in Katti Paharri, Cantt Station, Manghopir and Frontier Colony areas of the city from where the suspects involved in different criminal activities were arrested. Following the arrests, the residents of the areas also protested and said the Rangers arrested innocent citizens.
