Punjab Governor Chaudhary Muhammad Sarwar has termed calling off an anti-government protest sit-in in Islamabad by Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) chief Dr Tahirul Qadri a good omen for the democratic system of the country.
Sarwar arrived in Quetta on Saturday and participated in different programmes regarding education and also met political personalities.
Speaking to reporters after meeting politicians and educationists, the governor underlined the need for holding talks with Qadri and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan in order to bring an end to prevailing political crisis in the country.
“Rigging can be probed through a judicial commission,” Sarwar suggested. He said that the government of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was determined to uphold the banner of Constitution and supremacy of Parliament with an objective to strengthen democratic institutions in the country.
“Issues can be resolved through political means,” the governor said. He urged upon the political forces to bury the hatchet and join hands to promote democracy in the country.
Regarding the menace of corruption, Sarwar commented that eradication of corruption was indispensable for development and prosperity of the country, adding that corruption was posing a serious threat to the stability of Pakistan.
