Notices issued to IG and home secy in missing person’s case

The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Friday issued notice to the home secretary, provincial police chief and other police officials to submit their respective replies on a petition seeking recovery of a missing man said to be picked up by personnel of law enforcement agencies.

Headed by Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar, a division bench was hearing a petition filed by Erum Khatoon who moved the court seeking recovery of her spouse.

The petitioner alleged that personnel of law enforcement agencies took away her husband, Syed Asif Raza Zaidi, from house in FB Area on October 23 without any plausible reason and since then he was missing.

She said her brothers and other relatives approached the Samanabad SHO and other higher officials of LEAs to seek his whereabouts but they feigned ignorance about the incident.

The petitioner said LEAs personnel should have produced him in court of law if he was involved in any criminal case. He added her husband was illegally detained by LEAs and pleaded to the court to order official respondents to produce him in the court.

Meanwhile, another bench of the SHC directed the Hyderabad police to continue their efforts vigorously for recovery of the son of a lawyer. The bench was hearing a petition filed by Sindh High Court Bar Association (SHCBA) seeking recovery of Zulfiqar Durrani, the son of SHCBA’s Hyderabad chapter president, Nisar Durrani.

Zulfiqar went missing from Hyderabad 14 days ago. He alleged that the police had failed to recover him and requested the court to order law enforcers to make serious efforts.
