Islamabad High Court (IHC) has indefinitely adjourned the hearing of contempt of court petition against former president Asif Ali Zardari due to absence of the petitioner.
IHC bench comprising Chief Justice Muhammad Anwar Khan Friday took up for hearing petition filed by petitioner Riaz Hanif.
The petitioner could not appear in the court during the course of hearing of the case.
The petitioner has taken plea in his petition that former president Zardari used derogatory remarks against former chief justice of Pakistan (CJP) Iftikhar Chaudhry and ridiculed the judiciary in his party public meetings. Zardari used the word of “Dajjal,” he added.
He prayed the court to initiate contempt of court proceedings against Zardari for insulting and issuing negative statements against the judiciary.
