One more child died at Mithi Hospital on Friday raising the death toll in famine-hit District Tharparkar to 18 in the last 20 days. More than 431 children have died over the past eight months in Tharparkar which has been hit by a severe drought.
The desert region of Tharparkar is one of Pakistan’s poorest districts, spreading over nearly 20,000 square kilometres and home to some 1.3 million people.
On Friday, the Sindh Assembly passed a unanimous resolution calling for increase in the number of doctors and healthcare facilities for the area.
