Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s said Thursday that “religous fascists” are eyeing Sindh after “conquering Punjab” and questioned the discriminatory and “indifferent” attitude of “many politicians” to the plight of religous minorities in Pakistan.
Addressing the Hindu popluation from Larkana on the ccassion of Diwali, Bilawal –starting his speech with “Salam”, followed by the Hindu greeting “Namaste”– lashed out at “religious fascists” saying, “Marsun marsun Sindh na daisun. Marsun marsun Jinnah ka Pakistan na daisu.” (I’ll die, won’t give up Sindh. I’ll die won’t give up Jinnah’s Pakistan).
“We want a Pakistan that my mother (PPP leader Benzair Bhutto), PPP’s founder Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Quaid-e–Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah dreamed of,” he said, adding that PPP wanted a .Pakistan “where Muslims and non-Muslims are treated equally; a Pakistan where Diwali and Eid are celebrated with the same passion and fervour”.
He said that religious fascists only care about their personal and political gains and use laws made by former military dictator General Ziaul Haq to usurp the rights of the poor and non-Muslims in the name of religion.
“After conquering Punjab, these religious fascists are planning evil designs for Sindh,” he alleged and vowed not to allow these elements to succeed.
“In Pakistan, the pro-status quo politicians are either too scared or do not care to stand up and speak for the poor and religious minorities.”
“In Punjab, an attack takes place on a church in Joseph Colony and no one speaks up! A blast occurs in a church in Peshawar and there is still silence!” claimed Bilawal, adding that in the eyes of “many politicians”, Muslim and non-Muslims are not equal.
“If there is an attack on a mosque or temple, the PPP considers this an attack on Ghari Khuda Bux itself,” said Bilawal, adding that PPP wants a Pakistan where Muslims and non-Muslims are considered equals in the eyes of the law.
