‘30 provocative speakers’ can’t enter Sindh for 60 days

The Sindh home department in exercise of the powers conferred u/s 5(1) (a) and (c) of the Sindh Maintenance of Public Order Ordinance, 1960, has restricted 30 provocative speakers/scholars of other provinces and not to travel either by road, train or air to enter, reside or remain in the province for 60 days with immediate effect.

Those belonging to Deoban sect who have been banned to enter Sindh for two months included Moulana Ubeed-ur-Rehman from Kamalia Punjab, Moulana Sultan Mehmood Farooqui from Multan, Muhammad Ramzan Nomani from Ahmedpur Sharkeya, Moulana Masood-ur-Rehman Usmani from Rawalpindi, Moulana Abdul Majeed Nadeem from Rawalpindi, Moulana Manzoor Ahmed Chinyoti from Chinyot, Moulana Muhammad Ahmed Ludhyanvi from Rahimyar Khan, Moulana Faiz Muhamad Awaisi from Bahalwalpur, Moulana Muhammad Luqman from Muzafargarah, Moulana Mohsin Shah Farooqi from Punjab, Malik Ishaque from Rahimyar Khan, Moulana Abdul Gafoor Haqani from Rahimyar Khan, Moulana Abdul Majeed from Dera Gazi Khan, Allama Hubdar Faizi from Lahore, Moulana Manzoor Ahmed from Madressa Dar-ul-Uloom District Jhan.

However, there are many others belonging to the Shia sect which include Zakir Mushtaque Ahmed Mushtaque from Lahore, Allama Jaffar Jatoi from Bahawalpur; Hafiz Ghulam from Multan, Syed Abid Hussain Gardezi from Multan, Molvi Abdul Shakoor from Deenpur Multan, Abdul Sattar Tonsvi from Multan, Mazharul Haq Chakwal, Khadim Hussain from District Faisalabad, Allama Syed Asif Shah Jilani from Lahore, Waqar Hyder Fayazi from Lahore, Moulana Muhammad Shah Turabi from Dera Gazi Khan; Syed Mushtaq Hussain Shah from Multan, Zakir Ishaque Hussain from Lahore; Zakir Ghulam Qadir from Shaikhupura and Allama Sajjad Ali Naqvi from Lahore.

According to a notification issued by the Sindh home department, the restriction has been imposed on the ground that there are reasons to believe that they will make inflammatory speeches or indulge in activities prejudicial to public safety and maintenance of public order in other districts of Sindh and that their speeches, presence or other activities may promote feelings of hatred and ill will among different sects and thus posing problem of maintenance of law and order situation. The notification further added that they were at liberty to prefer an appeal to the government of Sindh against this notification.
