Rangers killed, bank guard injured in bank heist

Two men including a personnel of Rangers lost their lives as a result of firing by armed persons during an act of dacoity in a bank at Tikoni Masjid on Monday morning.

According to Manager Allied Bank Hirabad Branch Fateh Muhammad Mughal, eight gunmen entered the branch and took positions in and outside the bank. They held the staff at gun point and looted around Rs 2 million cash from the cashier. When the bank guard Faisal Shah tried to intercept them, they fired upon him from point blank range as a result of which he received serious wounds, the manager said.

In the meantime, the bank manager further informed that a mobile team of Qasim Rangers which was on normal patrol reached outside the bank but the gunmen resorted to firing on them as a result of which Ghulam Asghar of Rangers was injured. The culprits escaped leaving behind a motorbike, while one of them fled in an auto rickshaw by making its driver hostage.

Hospital sources informed that Sepoy Ghulam Asghar breathed his last before he could get any medical aid while the condition of bank guard Faisal Shah is serious. After the incident, the superintendent of police along with other officers reached the spot and enquired about the situation. A police spokesman of district police Hyderabad showed reluctance in disclosing about the details of incident.
