ATC rejects Beater’s bail application

An Anti-Terrorism Court-IX (ATC-IX) on Monday rejected the bail plea of accused, Waseem alias Beater, in a money extortion case.

The ATC-IX judge heard the arguments on the bail application filed on behalf of accused Waseem who argued that his client had not taken any extortion money from any one. According to the prosecution, the accused was involved in different cases of demanding extortion and hurling threats of killing in case of non-payment in different areas.

The prosecutor opposed his bail plea. After hearing the arguments from both sides, the court dismissed the bail application and adjourned the case till 5 November 2014.

A case FIR No 75/2013 was registered under Section 385 (putting person in fear of injury in order to commit extortion), 386 (extortion by putting a person in fear of death or grievous hurt) and 34 (common intention) of the Pakistan Penal Code read with Section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act at the Napier police station.
