Pakistan Muslim League–Nawaz (PML-N) member and former MNA Mohammad Hanif Abbasi sent a defamation notice seeking Rs 1 billion in damages to Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Tuesday.
The PML-N leader alleged that the PTI chairman had been spreading “slanderous propaganda” against him. He also maintained that Khan, during his speeches, had called Abbasi a ‘drug pusher’.
Abbasi sent the legal notice to Khan through his counsel Ghulam Mustafa Kidwal.
In his notice, Abbasi has demanded an apology from Khan within 15 days otherwise he should pay Rs 1 billion in damages to his reputation. Abbasi said that he would initiate legal proceedings against Khan if he didn’t pay damages.
It may be pointed out that Abbasi had been accused of misappropriating 500 kg ephedrine quota back in 2010.
