In a statement while leaving for Netherlands on a three-day official visit to attend the 6th Asia Europe (ASEM) cultural Minister’s meeting, Minister for Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage Senator Pervaiz Rashid termed culture as a nation’s identity.
The minister said that art, culture and creativity should principally focus on the contribution it makes to national economy. He said culture was the priority area of the government as it leads to the harmony, peace and brotherhood among the nations.
Rashid expressed his hope that the event will not only help in projecting the true image and cultural traits of Pakistan but would also provide an opportunity to explore the avenues of cooperation in the field of culture and heritage among the participating countries.
The meeting will deliberate on the theme “creative industries for society: talent, technology and trade. In the past, all previous meetings drew participation of culture ministers from ASEM countries to discuss issues pertaining to cultural diversity, heritage conservation and cultural cooperation between Asia and Europe.
