Curfew is likely to be imposed in Rawalpindi during Muharram for security assurance as the administration has appealed to the Ministry for Interior to provide Army and Rangers personnel.

In a meeting of senior police officers, police officers expressed concern that Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamat was insisting to change the route of Muharram procession whereas Tehrik-e-Jafria was constantly refusing to change the route and the situation could lead to a conflict.

It is feared that law and order situation might become out of police control during 9 and 10 Muharram as last year.

In order to ensure peace, Rawalpindi administration appealed to Ministry for Interior to proved Army and Rangers so that any adverse situation could be avert.
