Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique has dubbed Awami Muslim League (AML) Chairman Sheikh Rashid a “political comedian”.
“Rashid is a comedian of Pakistani politics. I don’t take his words seriously,” said Rafique in a statement.
Rafique said that had Javed Hashmi won the Multan by-polls, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan would have once again accused the government of election rigging.
He said it was a pity that most of the Khan’s close aides had a long history of corruption.
“Khan has surrounded himself with people who are covered in the filth of corruption”, the minister alleged.
He also added that as opposed to PTI, the ruling party Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) had neither held any rally nor tried to support Hashmi directly.
“PTI’s Multan rally was in fact a part of election campaigning for their candidate Amir Dogar, who was seen standing next to Khan on the podium the whole time,” said the minister.
