The police have arrested five people and recovered 48 wine bottles, 1.2 kilogrammes of hashish and various weapons from their possession, a police spokesman said Friday.
Acting on a tip off, a team of ShehzadTown police cordoned off the area near IqbalTown and started the search of vehicles.
The team headed by ASI Sajid Mehmud succeeded in intercepting a car (IDL-9158) driven by Shaoor Rehmat and recovered 48 wine bottles from it.
Meanwhile, Koral police recovered a 30 bore pistol from accused Habibur Rehman, Sihala police recovered another 30 bore pistol from Mohsin Ali while Saqib was apprehended by Tarnol police and a 30 bore pistol was also recovered from him.
In a separate incident, a team of Ramana police nabbed Muzafar Iqbal during police patrol and recovered 1.2kilogrammes of hashish from him.
The police have registered cases against the accused and started investigation.
