Sindh Governor Dr Ishrat-ul-Ibad said on Thursday that lives of people could be balanced by investing in rural and community development sectors.
Talking to a European delegation headed by Lars-Gunnar Wigemark at Governor House, he said: “Developed countries provided values and much development to human and that was why they are now described as civilised countries.
He said: “Until we do not pay attention on human development in Pakistan, we would not be recognised. So, it is essential that we should spread education along with better nutrition.”
The governor said: “If Europeans and other countries help Pakistan in this regard, it could be possible to make betterment in the lives of people in this country.” He said it was priority of the federal and provincial governments to make more investment on human development but there was need to give priority to resolving energy shortage, poverty and unemployment.
The governor said the government expressed gratitude to the European Union for assistance on resolving these issues which was spending for community and rural development, food security and education.
He said Pakistan could get better results by getting the profits. He said human resources could be utilised in industries by value addition for eradication of unemployment, by this way eradication of poverty and unemployment could be tackled easily and it would be possible when developed countries prioritised the investment in Pakistan.
On the occasion, Lars-Gunnar Wigemark told the governor that European countries were agreed to fund those projects directly linked to human resource. He said the community and rural developments were two such departments in which works were already being carried out.
