Govt likely to let go Potohar Town’s property tax

The Punjab government is likely to withdraw property tax imposed by Excise and Taxation (E&T) Department in 14 union councils of Potohar Town PP-6 Rawalpindi.
E&T Department Rawalpindi had levied property tax in 14 union councils of PP-6 Rawalpindi to integrate them into tax net and issued notices to the owners of properties on July, 1, 2014. The property tax collection target was also set at Rs 160 million for the current fiscal year and it has also recovered property tax amounting to Rs 40 million from owners of properties during the first quarterly of this financial year.
Sources said that these union councils consist of rural population and Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan had taken notice of levying of property tax as this constituency is his electoral constituency.
