ISLAMABAD-

Fresh airstrikes by Pakistan Military jets killed at least 21 terrorists in the restive tribal area of Tirah Valley of Khyber Agency,  according to a statement by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

According to details, jets pounded militant hideouts in Akakhel and Sipah area of Tirah Valley on Thursday, killing at least 21 militants.

Reports add that the roads leading up to Khyber Agency’s  Bara have been sealed as a military operation is soon to begin in the area.  A search operation in Shakas, Khyber is also underway.

In light of the expected operation, more than 500 families in Darota, Dars Jumaat, Kulla and Shaddaly areas of Akakhel have reportedly left their homes in the last three days.

The airstrikes and ground operations are part of Operation Zarb-e-Azb launched by Pakistan Army in mid-June this year against outlawed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan and other militant groups in North Waziristan Agency.

Around a million residents of the NWA were displaced and moved to camps in Bannu and surrounding areas as Pakistan Army initiated the offensive following an attack on Karachi International Airport which was claimed by TTP and Uzbek militants.
