The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Wednesday issued notice to a cellular company’s chief executive officer to submit information about a cell phone used in abduction of a lawyer’s son.
Headed by Chief Justice Maqbool Baqar, a division bench also directed police to double their efforts for recovery of the son of a lawyer. The bench was hearing a petition filed by the Sindh High Court Bar Association (SHCBA) seeking recovery of Zulfiqar Durrani, the son of SHCBA’s Hyderabad chapter president, Nisar Durrani.
The petitioner’s counsel stated that Zulfiqar went missing from Hyderabad 14 days ago. He alleged that the police had failed to recover him and requested the court to order law enforcers to make serious efforts. Umar Tufail, SP City Hyderabad, submitted a progress report stating that all-out efforts were being made to locate the abductee. He said two persons had been arrested on suspicion of their involvement in the abduction and they were being interrogated.
However, he said, a cellular company, Zong, neither preserved message data nor did furnish it to the police whenever required. Therefore, the court issued notice to company’s CEO to submit information about the cell phone of the abducted son of the lawyer.
