5 killed in violence

As many as five persons were killed and two others injured in separate incidents of violence in the city on Wednesday.

A man, Ali Murad Sultan, 55, son of Haji Mir Sultan, resident of Lyari, was gunned down by unidentified persons near Hazara Colony, Lyari. The body was shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) for autopsy.

The Station House Officer (SHO) Chakiwara informed that two unknown armed motorcyclists of Lyari Gang War shot dead a person namely Ali Mardan (Hazarewal) at Hazara Colony near Hazara Masjid, Chakiwara, over doubt of spying and escaped from the scene.

One Munir Raza, 42, son of Mohammad Raza, was gunned down by unidentified accused near Landhi No 3, Babar Market. The body was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center (JPMC) for an autopsy. The SHO Landhi informed that two armed motorcyclists came at Landhi No 3 Babar Market and killed a person, Munir Raza, and managed to flee. The motive behind the incident was yet to be ascertained, he said.

In another incident, a youth Mohammad Sarwar, 25, son of Shamim, resident of C-1 Area Mominabad Market Road, was shot dead by unknown persons near Nasir Hotel near his residence. The body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico-formalities.

The SHO Mominabad informed that two armed accused who reached C-1 Area Mominabad Market Road shot dead a person Mohammad Sarwar and escaped. Motive behind the incident could not be ascertained. However, the body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.

Two accused Anwar-ul-Haq, 18, son of Irshad and Bilal, 20, son of Manthar, were killed in police encounter at Naddi Band No 5 Sector-8/F Korangi. The police recovered two TT Pistols with five rounds from their possession. The bodies of both accused were shifted to JPMC for autopsy.

In this connection, SHO Korangi Industrial Area claimed that an encounter took place between police and kidnappers at Naddi Band No 5 Sector-8/F Korangi IA. Resultantly, two kidnappers, Anwar-ul-Haq and Bilal, were killed and two TT pistols with five rounds were recovered from their possession. Police also recovered a baby namely Yamna, 2, from kidnappers for whose release they had demanded Rs 5 million ransom, he said.

In another encounter, the SHO Saeedabad informed that an encounter took place between police and accused at Sector-12/E Saeedabad. Resultantly, police arrested an accused namely Qayoom, 30, son of Zarbat Khan in injured condition and recovered one pistol with four rounds from him. The injured was shifted to CHK for treatment.

Yet in another incident, Imran, 28, son of Mohammad Ibrahim, was shot and injured by a stray bullet near Colony Gate Macro. He was shifted to JOMC for treatment.

A youth Akbar Rehman, 20, son of Abdul Rehman, was shot and injured by unidentified accused at Godam Chowrangi, Korangi, over the resistance of dacoity. He was shifted to JPMC for treatment.

In this regard, the Korangi Industrial Area SHO informed that a person Akbar Rehman (Bengali) was injured by the firing of unknown armed accused at Godam Chowrangi Korangi over resistance of a dacoity.

Separately, in incident of gun fire by unknown accused, a youth Mohammad Zahid, 24, son of Mohammad Shahid, was injured in Gosht Market, Landhi.

In this connection, the JMPC Medical Legal Officer (MLO) reported that a person Mohammad Zahid was brought to hospital in an injured condition from Gosht Market Landhi. The injuries were caused due to firing of unknown armed accused. The Landhi SHO informed that Zahid was injured by firing of unknown armed accused for resisting a dacoity bid.
