Windows 10 preview version being tested by 1 million users

Microsoft has revealed that more than 1 million people are testing Windows Technical Preview, an early build of Windows 10.
The prototype operating system took two weeks to reach the milestone, and the users involved in the trial have submitted 200,000 instances of feedback in that time.

“It’s been awesome to see so many of you joining the Windows Insider Programme and letting us know what you think about the Windows 10 Technical Preview software,” said Windows chief Joe Belfiore.

Belfiore also revealed that only 36% of Windows 10 preview users have installed the software on virtual machines as a precautionary measure, with the remainder running it on their actual PC.

As the operating system is a work in progress, Microsoft recommends installing it on a secondary computer.
Windows Technical Preview is aimed squarely at businesses, allowing their IT departments to take an early look at Windows 10’s features and prepare their systems accordingly.

Microsoft recently advised consumers against downloading Windows Technical Preview, suggesting they wait for the Consumer Preview of the operating system, due for release in early 2015.
