A meeting of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) witnessed a ruckus when supporters of PPP Punjab President Manzoor Wattoo and another PPP leader Ashraf Sohna came at draggers drawn.
Per details, “Go Wattoo Go” slogan rose up in the PPP Sahiwal division meeting, led by the party’s co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari, when PPP workers from Okara started giving vent to their anger over their grievances. This led the workers of Wattoo and Sohna to the verge of exchanging blows.
Zardari intervened and advised the workers to observe patience. “We have to face this embarrassment in front of the media,” he regretted. He said that personal fights among the party leaders had harmed the party. Later on, he left the meeting.
It was later announced that Zardari would be leaving for Karachi on Tuesday (today) but the decision was later reconsidered by the PPP leader who decided to stay back in Lahore for a few more days.
Earlier, the meeting also discussed Kashmir dispute between the neighbouring countries and decided on the formation of an establishment interaction think tank.
Zardari had told the meeting participants that the ‘container drama’ was a sponsored show. “People have stopped watching TV soaps and have started watching container drama,” he said, adding that if other parties did not learn the politics of patience and reconciliation, they too would have to “reply in their language”.
“People’s Party is playing the role of a genuine opposition in Pakistan,” he maintained.
