National Assembly (NA) Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq has assured the NA Secretariat employees that their grievances would be addressed according to the legal framework.

In a first ever interaction in the parliamentary history with the employees of the NA Secretariat from BPS 1 to 15, Sadiq assured that rules could be amended keeping in view the best interest of the employees and effective working of the NA Secretariat, says a press release.

The speaker informed the meeting that new human resource policy is being framed in consultation with representatives of the employees in order to raise the working of NA Secretariat. The existing inefficient posts will be declared “dying cadre” while in order to bring in new blood, vigour and expertise, NA will include data entry operators and research associates in the new policy through National Testing Service (NTS) and Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC) where required.

While listening to the grievance, Sadiq encouraged the employees to put in written complaints and also file in their suggestions in writing directly to his office. He assured the participants that all decisions will be in accordance with Estacode of the federal government. The recruitment will be criterion-based and existing capacity will be enhanced through training and capacity building programme, he added.

The procedure of promotion will be streamlined and DPC will be held every three months and advance notice will be displayed in the Speaker’s Chambers, he said. The recently installed biometric system to record the attendance of the employees is taken as positive way forward in increasing the efficiency and transparency of the institution.
