Senators Kamran Michael and Hari Ram would retain their posts in the Upper House for six years while Senator Amarjit and Senator Heman Das would retire on March 11, 2015 upon completion of a three-year term.
According to a press release issued Tuesday, Acting Chief Election Commissioner Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali supervised the first draw for the minority members to determine their term in office. Leader of the House in the Senate Raja Zafarul Haq, Senator Zahid Khan, Senator Heman Das, Senator Amarjit and Senator Harri Ram, Election Commission Secretary Ishtiaq Ahmed Khan and Senate Acting Secretary Hasan Khan were also present.
Acting Chief Election Commissioner Jamali announced the names of the senators after the draw to determine the duration of their term in office. Later, he notified the term of office of the four minority senators as per the Constitution.
