AIOU VC says they are putting their backs into research

Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) will emphasise more on research, curriculum and faculty development while strictly following transparency, merit and rules and regulations in its working, said AIOU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Shahid Siddiqui on Tuesday.

Addressing deans and faculty members of the university, he highlighted his priorities for the development of AIOU, said a press release.

Dr Siddiqui said he would be working on a comprehensive and well-thought strategy to develop the university on modern lines and provide the best possible educational facilities to the students. This would be done in consultation with academic and administrative staff in a team spirit, he added.

Underlining the importance of research work, Dr Siddiqui said it should be relevant and meaningful to meet the present day’s requirements.

The existing Research Cell in the university, he said, would be further strengthened and at least three research journals would be brought out by 2015. Cash prizes and letters of appreciation would be given to researchers as an encouragement to their good work. He said he wished that the AIOU should work as a model in research activities for other educational institutions.
