As many as four persons were killed and six others injured in separate incidents of violence in the city on Monday.
Daniyal Savio, 30, son of John Desuza, resident of Noman Centre, Saddar, was shot dead by unidentified persons in Empress Market area. The Station House Officer (SHO) Preedy informed that Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center (JPMC) reported that body of a person namely Daniyal Savio, aged about 30 to 35, was brought to hospital from Saddar near Noman Center, who died due to firing of unknown accused.
In another incident, SHO Eidgah reported that a person namely Faraz son of Ashraf, 25, was injured by a stray bullet and was shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) where he succumbed to injuries during the treatment.
A youth and security guard in a private bank, Afzal Mehmood, 20, son of Afzal Ahmed, was shot to death by unidentified accused for offering resistance in a dacoity bid in Gulistan-e-Jauhar.
SHO Gulistan-e-Jauhar Hayatullah informed that two unknown accused came on a motorcycle at a private bank in Block-I, Gulistan-e-Jauhar and tried to enter the bank. However, on resistance by Afzal Mehmmood, they shot him injured and escaped. Separately, one Wajid Shah, 30, son of Imran Shah, resident of Baldia, Sector-12D, Shehzad Chowk, was shot at and injured by unidentified persons near his residence.
In this connection, SHO Saeedabad informed that armed motorcyclist reached Sector-12/D Al Shahzad Chowk, shot injured a person Wajid Shah, an employee of Sindh Secretariat and managed to flee. They shot a bullet in his leg. The victim was affiliated to a political party. However, he was shifted to a private hospital. Motive behind the incident could not be ascertained, he said.
Yet in another incident, one Nadeem, 22, son of Sarawr, was shot and injured by unknown persons in Saleh Mohammad Goth near Manzil Petrol Pump.
JPMC Medical Legal Officer (MLO) Dr Zaryab reported that a person namely Nadeem was brought to the hospital from Saleh Mohammad Goth, near Manzil Petrol Pump, having received bullet injuries caused due to firing of unknown accused.
A tortured body of one Khalil, 35, son of Mohammad Ahmed, resident of North Karachi, was found from a house in North Karachi No 5 Sector 11. It was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) for medico-legal formalities.
One Asad, 35, resident of Five Star Chowrangi, was shot dead by unidentified persons near United Bakery. The body was shifted to ASH for an autopsy.
In another incident, one Ghulam, 30, son of Khan Mohammad, was shot and injured by unknown accused in Zaman Town near police station Korangi. He was shifted to JPMC for treatment.
