India on Monday resumed ‘unprovoked’ firing and mortar shelling near the Kailer sector in Bagh on the Line of Control (LoC) after a pause of two days.
According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the Pakistan Army “befittingly responded to Indian unprovoked firing”. However, no casualties were reported from either side of the LoC.
Exchanges of sporadic fire are common along the de facto border dividing the region, despite a ceasefire pact signed in 2003. But the extent and intensity of the latest violence and the number of civilian deaths is unusual.
