Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that there are vast opportunities to generate power on short-term basis through use of solar energy in the province.
He was chairing a high-level meeting in Lahore on Sunday to review the setting up of small solar power projects.
The chief minister said 46 sites had been selected for establishing small solar projects in Punjab. He said the Punjab government was setting up a solar project with capacity of 100 megawatts at Quaid-e-Azam Solar Park Bahawalpur through its own resources. He said this project was being completed speedily. On this occasion, a detailed briefing was given to participants regarding the small solar power projects.
