As many as nine people were killed and nine others injured in separate incidents of violence in the city on Sunday.
Police said four members of Lyari gang war were killed in an encounter with police and Rangers near Bhawan Shah Shrine in Malir. One of the dead accused was identified as Shoaib.
The bodies were shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for autopsies. Assistant Sub Inspector Zaid Khan of Malir City police informed that an encounter took place between criminals and Rangers and police in Malir City.
In another two persons Rashid, 30, son of Amanullah, and Rehmatullah, 30, son of Hameedullah, were killed by unknown armed men in Qasba MPR colony in Orangi Town. The bodies were shifted to Abbasi Shaeed Hospital (ASH) for medico-legal formalities.
Moreover, Waleed, 22, son of Ali Muahammad, was killed by unknown armed men in Khamosh colony located in Nazimabad. Unknown armed men targeted him outside his home. The body was shifted to ASH for an autopsy.
Muhammad Kashif, 45, son of Sultan, resident of Farhan Classic flats, Gulistan-e-Jauher, committed suicide by hanging himself with a ceiling fan. The body was shifted to JPMC for an autopsy.
Yet in another incident, Muhammad Iqbal, 55, son of Muhammad Imran, was killed and Jahangir, 50, son of Abdul Qasim, injured by unknown armed men in Korangi-5 near Ainuddin Haleem Shop. The body and the injured were shifted to JPMC.
Meanwhile, Sohail, 40, and Shah Zain, 27, were shot and injured by unknown armed men in Shah Latif Colony in Landhi. The injured were rushed to JPMC for treatment.
Six people were injured in a clash between Shahid Jutt group and Shahid Arain group over a land dispute near Ghausia Masjid, Nazimabad. The injured were identified as Shah Wazeer, Sohail, Riaz, Shakeel, Hajra, 6, and Muhammad Ishaq, 8. They were rushed to JPMC for treatment.
