Novak Djokovic fell to a stunning semi-final defeat at the hands of Roger Federer at the Shanghai Masters.
Federer was on top throughout, winning 6-4 6-4 to earn a place in the final.
Twice defending champion Djokovic looked stunned by Federer’s strong service game and neat work at the net, and never looked like recovering from an early first-set break.
He could have hit back immediately after being broken to go 2-3 down, but Federer powered through to reclaim a dropped break point and then cruised through from there.
Federer faces Gilles Simon in the tournament final.
