Zehra murder accused’s remand extended

An Anti-Terrorism Court-II (ATC-II) on Friday extended the remand of two accused, Muhammad Rashid and Zahid Abbas Zaidi, to police custody till 13 October 2014 in Zehra Shahid murder case.

Police produced the accused before the ATC-II judge under tight security.

Investigation officer Mubeen Ahmed requested the court to allow the further physical remand of the two under-detention accused as the police wanted to investigate them so that the whereabouts of their absconding accomplices could be ascertained and they could be arrested. The court accepted the police request and remanded the accused to police custody till 13 October.

According to prosecution, Muhammad Rashid was arrested on 25 September and remanded to police custody from September 26 to October 9 while Zahid Abbas Zaidi was arrested on October 2 and remanded to police custody from October 3 to 9.
