Sindh govt suspends four DSPs, 11 SHOs on deaths due to raw wine

Sindh Chief Secretary Sajjad Saleem Hotiana has taken stern action against the responsible police officials held responsible for the deaths of people due to raw wine in various areas of Korangi district.

DSPs Korangi and Landhi including six SHOs of Korangi, Landhi, Sharafi Goth, Zaman Town, Ibrahim Hyderi and Shah Lateef Town have been suspended.

Hotiana asked the secretary excise to forthwith initiate crackdown throughout the province and submit comprehensive report regarding anti-drugs/narcotics measures. He also asked for a follow–up report on functioning of ANF (Anti-Narcotics Force) in Sindh within a week. The Hyderabad and Karachi excise director have also been suspended to this effect. DIG Hyderabad Sanaullah Abbasi, during the meeting, telephonically informed the CS that two DSPs and five SHOs had been suspended in addition to 50 officials of excise and police in Hyderabad in a similar incident that occurred last week.

The chief secretary advised the secretary health to ensure transparent medical and chemical examination of the dead bodies concerned and directed to register a case under section 302 against the defaulters.

Karachi Commissioner Shoaib A Siddiqui, Secretary Home and Excise and Additional IGP Ghulam Qadir Thebo also attended the meeting.
