*Says he believes in politics of reconciliation
Former president and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari said Sunday that the Parliament and Constitution can solve the present crises and underlined the need for unity among all political parties to strengthen democracy and tackle the challenges being faced by the country.
He expressed these views while talking to Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and former Punjab chief minister Pervez Elahi who called on him Sunday at Bilawal House, Lahore.
Reiterating his belief in “politics of reconciliation”, Zardari said that all the party heads are respectable for him, adding that Pakistan’s interest should be on top of the priority list of the entire political forces of the country.
He urged the PML-Q leadership to play their part to strengthen the democratic system rather than opting for politics of agitation.
“An elected prime minister cannot be forced to resign through unconstitutional means,” he stressed.
Hussain said that PML-Q had discussed every demand and issue with the government by remaining within the parameters of the Constitution.
“Democracy is the name of resolving the problems and grievances of the people; people cannot be stopped from staging protests in case the rulers demonstrate an undemocratic attitude,” said Hussain.
